Crime Writers Tour 2020
Our 15-day tour features the culture and history of southeast England, including Kent, Sussex, and London, with a special interest in crime writers who live and/or set their novels there. Participants will meet on the morning of Wednesday September 23 in Heathrow Airport for transfer to Canterbury for the beginning of our tour. From Canterbury, we travel to the Rochester area, then to London for the 2nd annual Capital Crime conference, and finally to Brighton for the remaining 4 days of our tour.
The tentative itinerary includes the following: A tour of Canterbury Cathedral and walking tour of Canterbury; visits to Dover Castle and the white cliffs of Dover; visits to Rye and Leeds Castle; a walking tour of Rochester, with visits to Rochester Castle and Rochester Cathedral; a visit to Chatham Dockyard for a special Call the Midwife tour; a panoramic tour of mystery writers’ London to include many of its most famous landmarks like Westminster Abbey, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower of London; a walking tour of Covent Garden; a walking tour featuring Legal London—the Inns of Court and possibly the Old Bailey; the Churchill Museum and War Rooms, the Supreme Court building; attendance at Capital Crime conference; a Brighton walking tour; visits to Chartwell, Hever Castle, and Tunbridge Wells; tours of Fishbourne, Chichester Cathedral and the Weald and Downland Living Museum; the Royal Pavilion and Palace Pier.
